In 2017 NMMC went out on a limb and curated an exhibition designed to challenge visitors and engage new audiences.
Despite its critics ‘Tattoo – British Tattoo Art Revealed’ overdelivered. The success of the show saw it travel the UK, stopping in coastal communities where cultural activity is sparse. The exhibition changed how the museum thinks about being socially relevant, as well as their cultural and artistic ambitions for the future.
To mark the legacy and celebrate the success of ‘Tattoo’ we designed a 164 page book, ‘A Catalyst For Change’. Written by Mary-Anne Edwards, with a long-list of contributors. We approached the design from an information-first perspective, with a clean grid, letting photography and illustration lead the narrative.
The book was sustainably printed and finished in the UK by Pure Print. We have a couple of spares in the studio, if you’re in the area and would like one, let us know.
